When Should You Book Your Newborn Session?

One of the most common questions I hear as a Corpus Christi newborn photographer is: “When should I book my baby’s photos?”

The short answer: as early as your second trimester.

Why Book Early?

Pregnancy has a way of feeling like it’s moving both painfully slow and lightning fast at the same time. By the time your little one is in your arms, the days will blur together, and suddenly those fresh newborn details won’t feel so tiny anymore.

Booking your newborn session during your second trimester ensures:

• Time to chat about colors, sets, and themes you’d like for your session

• Peace of mind knowing one big “to-do” is already checked off your list

How the Booking Process Works

When you book, I’ll have you reserve your due date as a placeholder on my calendar. Once your baby actually arrives, you’ll simply reach out to me, and we’ll schedule the exact session date and time that works best.

This flexible system allows us to plan ahead while still accommodating the unpredictability of babies and due dates.

Bonus tip: I can also provide you with a custom link to share on your baby gift list, so friends and family can contribute monetarily toward your newborn session. It’s a meaningful way for loved ones to give a gift that lasts a lifetime.

What If You Didn’t Book Ahead?

Life happens! Between doctor appointments, nursery prep, and everything else, it’s easy for parents to forget about booking newborn photos until after baby arrives.

I completely understand—and I do my best to make room for those last-minute requests. I keep at least one day a week open for unexpected or late bookings. So, if your baby is due soon or already here, don’t hesitate to reach out. I’ll do everything I can to get you into the studio so you don’t miss out on capturing these fleeting moments.

Newborn sessions are typically best done when babies are between 7–20ish days old. During this window, babies are still sleepy and flexible, making it easier to capture those cozy, curled-up poses while also starting to show little glimpses of their personality.
